Knowsley Council is reminding residents that bins should not be over-filled.
Overfilled bins create hazards and health and safety issues. In order to comply with Health and Safety regulations regarding the use of bin lifting equipment on vehicles, overfilled bins cannot be emptied.
Where bins have been overfilled, stickers will be placed on the bin to remind residents to remove excess waste. The bin will be emptied on the next scheduled collection day.
Excess waste can also be taken to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre – and please recycle as much as possible.

Knowsley Council is reminding residents of the need to recycle more and recycle right.
Recycling in Knowsley is so easy with items all going in your grey bin – there’s no need to separate items, making it as easy as possible to recycle in Knowsley.
Recycling can make a real difference to our environment and community. Recycling helps tackle climate change by conserving vital natural resources and helps reduce costly disposal charges. So, let’s make sure we’re making the most of our recycling in Knowsley.
Remember that only recyclable materials should go into your grey bin. In Knowsley we can recycle glass bottles, jars, plastic bottles, cans, paper and card.
Putting non-recyclable items in the grey bin can spoil the rest of the load and means that none of the bin contents can be recycled.
Where the wrong items are in the grey bin, stickers will be placed on the bin to remind residents what can and can’t be recycled – and asking residents to remove the non-recyclable items. The bin will then be emptied on the next scheduled collection day.
