As part of our Black History Month activities, Knowsley Council is proud to show solidarity with Wear Red Day and stand firmly against racism.
The campaign, founded by the UK’s leading anti-racism charity, Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC), encourages individuals and groups to wear red and donate to support its message of equality and inclusivity.
Cabinet Members showed their solidarity for the campaign by wearing red during their meeting this week.
Council staff were invited to wear red to work throughout the week, and to mark the day on 17 October, the Greystone Bridge across the M62 will be illuminated in red, demonstrating Knowsley’s commitment to inclusivity and anti-racism.
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said:
“I’m proud to support Wear Red Day, raising awareness and showing our support for its goal to bring an end to racism.
“We are proud to celebrate the wealth of different cultures here in Knowsley and champion equality and inclusion for everyone.”
The council is supporting the day as part of activities to mark Black History Month in Knowsley.
