Knowsley based Sterling Services and community growing charity Incredible Edible have flocked together, with the construction and maintenance firm providing a new home for the charity’s brood of chickens.
The new shed, affectionally referred to as ‘Cluckingham Palace’ provides safe and secure accommodation to the 17 chickens who reside at the Incredible Edible site in Court Hey Park.
The birds were brought on site at the end of last year to enhance the offer available to the local community, through the provision of fresh eggs, as well as provide a form of therapy to the volunteers who work on the site.
Karen Mower CEO and Director of Incredible Edible Knowsley said: “Everything we do here at Incredible Edible is about making life a little bit easier for our community and our volunteers, through their generous donation Sterling Services have given us the opportunity to expand our provision and also keep our much-loved brood of chickens safe from predators.”
