Knowsley Council is proud to support and raise awareness of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day and Cabinet Members demonstrated their commitment at today’s meeting (18 March).
To mark the month, Cabinet Members wore purple – the colour traditionally associated with Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day (IWD) as they pledged their support. This act highlights the importance of recognising the achievements, experiences and contributions of women to Knowsley’s communities and beyond.
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said:
“We’re proud to support and celebrate Women’s History Month. This month, and every month, we reaffirm our commitment to equality, representation, and opportunity—because when women succeed, our whole community moves forward.”
Women’s History Month is a reminder that everyone has a role to play in advancing equality. By sharing knowledge, offering encouragement, challenging stereotypes, calling out discrimination and celebrating women’s success, we can all help create positive change in our daily lives.
Throughout March, Knowsley’s libraries are helping to celebrate the month with themed displays featuring work by women writers past and present, as well as stories of women who have spoken up for change and championed their rights.
The Borrowbox online library for e‑books, e‑audiobooks and e‑magazines, will also showcase a selection of titles chosen specifically for Women’s History Month.
