East of Halewood developer supports Armistice Day celebrations at Arncliffe Court

by Jonathan Kearney

A house builder has made a donation to residents of Arncliffe Court Care Home in Halewood to help them mark Armistice Day.

Miller Homes, who are delivering new homes at the East of Halewood development, has donated tea part décor and a selection of treats to help residents mark the day.

The donation includes Union Jack bunting, table covers, and flags, as well as a poppy wreath to honour the fallen. To further support the celebration, Miller Homes has gifted tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits, and buns, ensuring the residents can enjoy a traditional tea party on this reflective occasion.

The donation is part of Miller Homes’ effort to support local communities and remember those who served. It follows the recent unveiling of a two-metre high memorial sculpture of Blackie, a WWI warhorse, at their Wilbury Park development at East of Halewood. The memorial honours Blackie and all animals who served alongside British troops.

Vicky Sharpe, Care Home Manager at Arncliffe Court, shared her gratitude: “The Armistice Day tea party is a treasured event for our residents, and we’re very grateful to Miller Homes for their thoughtful support this year. The décor and treats will truly make this a memorable and meaningful celebration.”

Stuart Craig, Managing Director of Miller Homes North West, added: “Armistice Day holds deep significance as we reflect on the sacrifices made by both people and animals in past conflicts. Our recent dedication of Blackie’s memorial at Wilbury Park honours this history, and we hope that the residents of Arncliffe Court feel our appreciation for the past through their Armistice tea party.”
