COVID-19 spring booster 2024

by Cathy Sheel

This spring those that are at highest risk of getting seriously unwell from COVID-19 will be able to access a booster jab via the NHS.

Eligible residents will be contacted by the NHS in the coming weeks and should be offered an appointment between April and June, with those at highest risk being contacted first.

Those eligible include those who:

  • are aged 75 years old or over
  • live in a care home for older adults
  • are aged 6 months old or over and have a weakened immune system

Getting to your appointment

Knowsley residents who may find it difficult to travel to their Covid-19 vaccination appointment can get support through the local travel offer.

Knowsley Council has worked in partnership with Healthwatch Knowsley to provide a taxi service for residents who do not have access to transport to get to a drop-in vaccination site or to a pre-booked appointment.

If you are a Knowsley resident, and you don’t have access to transport, you can call 0151 449 3954 (lines are open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm) and they will talk you through your options to get to your appointment or a drop in clinic close by to you.

This service is available for journeys to and from the closest vaccination site to you.

Want to book your appointment?

If you are aged 75 and over or have a weakened immune system, there are lots of convenient ways to book your COVID-19 vaccine this spring. You can book your COVID-19 vaccine through the NHS App or on the NHS website, which also lists walk-in sites across the country that you can visit without an appointment.

Alternatively, if you aren’t able to book online, you can call 119 where translators will also be available to support you if you need. Get the extra protection you need this spring, search ‘NHS COVID-19 vaccine’.#
