Working Well Parkrun Takeover

by Lisa Bennett

On Saturday 16 May, Working Well held a Parkrun Takeover in Stadt Moers Park where people from local businesses walked or ran the 5km course. In addition, information and support was available around the Working Well Programme’s offer and support.

The Working Well Programme aims to improve the health and wellbeing of workforces across Knowsley. It offers free services to businesses, including grant funding, helping to reduce sickness absence, creating healthier environments and comply with health and safety regulations. You can find more about the programme here.

Parkruns are great ways to socialise as a team as well as supporting positive mental and physical wellbeing.

A further Working Well Parkrun Takeover will be organised, but in the meantime, there are various events locally which you can take part in – find out more here.  This includes the weekly parkrun in Stadt Moers Park every Saturday morning, as well as two junior parkruns with 2km courses for children aged under 14 years at Halewood Park and Millbrook Millenium Park, Kirkby at 9am every Sunday. All provide a great community to be part of.

Feedback from the Working Well Parkrun Takeover event on Saturday included:-

“It was my first time doing a parkrun and I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was amazing, and it felt great to be part of something so positive with the team.”

“I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it turned out to be such a fun morning. Everyone was so supportive, and it really brought us together as a team.”

“I’ve never taken part in anything like this through work before, but I really enjoyed it. It was a great way to get active and really made a difference to our mental wellbeing and weekend! I’d definitely do it again.”

“The event was really well organised and welcoming. It was great to see so many people getting involved, and it made the whole experience even more enjoyable.”

Cllr Christine Bannon, Cabinet Member for Health, added “It was great to see so many local businesses coming along with their staff to take part in this event. As well as helping to boost people’s fitness, health and wellbeing, it also created social opportunities outside of the workplace. Well done to the team for organising this event and I look forward to a further takeover event being announced.”
