The next phase of a £1m investment in Finch Woods in Halewood has commenced.
Knowsley Council is delivering a substantial new play area at Finch Woods, including separate junior and toddler play areas connected via a sensory path.
A range of new equipment suitable for ages 0-14 will be installed, including swings, slides, climbing frames, accessible equipment and sensory panels.
The new play area will connect to the existing trim trail, which has already been installed as part of the investment works.
The installation of the new play area will take approximately six weeks to complete and is scheduled to open before the summer holidays.
Major investment
Knowsley Council is investing £1m in Finch Woods, funded by S106 developer contributions from the East of Halewood development, as part of the wider £30m investment in Halewood.
The investment in the woodland, a key element of the Halewood Investment Masterplan, will increase its size by approximately 50%. The investment works is delivering major habitat improvement works to the woodlands, ponds and meadowlands, as well as the creation of new pond and wetland features that will support flood resilience in the area. The site will become a key hub for biodiversity and access to the natural environment.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said: “This major investment in Finch Woods has helped breathe new life into the woodland. The new play equipment, in addition to the existing trim trail, will ensure it is a space the whole family can enjoy together. I am looking forward to seeing the play area when it is finished in this fantastic woodland setting.”
