Ukraine Independence Day

by Cathy Sheel

On Sunday, 24 August, Knowsley Council will once again stand with Ukraine on its Independence Day, supporting the country’s ongoing fight for democracy, sovereignty, the rule of law.

To honour the shared values of liberty and democracy that unite us with Ukraine, we are lighting up the Greystone Bridge in blue and yellow to show our support.

Since the war began, a number of Ukrainian families have resettled in Knowsley via the Homes for Ukraine sponsorship scheme. Knowsley sponsors have provided invaluable support by hosting Ukrainian guests in their homes.  The Council has held events and drop-ins to bring Ukrainian guests together, help them connect and create a support network in the borough.
