Two Knowsley development projects shortlisted for Property Awards

by Gemma Melling

Two Knowsley development projects have been shortlisted for the Future Ambition Award for the Liverpool City Region Property Awards.

The Future Ambition Award is designed to shine a spotlight on the most exciting and transformative projects taking shape across the region, those that will have the biggest impact and support Liverpool City Region’s growth and inward investment ambitions.

The two projects that have been shortlisted by property and regeneration professionals are:

Huyton Town Centre

The vision for Huyton Town Centre includes the delivery of a new mixed-used commercial district with opportunities for a hotel, office space, co-working centre and new homes. It also plans to create a new Village Green that will connect improved public spaces and an improved station gateway area alongside high quality event and public spaces on Derby Road. Knowsley Council have appointed Genr8 Kajima Regeneration to work in partnership to deliver this ten-year development plan for Huyton Town Centre.

Kirkby Town Centre

Significant regeneration has already been delivered in Kirkby town centre with the construction of a 94,000 sq ft retail development. Now the next phase of regeneration is under way at Kirkby where the council has secured more than £2m from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to improve access to and from the town centre. The multi-storey car park, a key gateway site, will be transformed into a sustainable travel hub which includes the installation of electric charging points, CCTV, sensor controlled lighting and accessible parking spaces. It aims to create a much better modern facility that that will help attract further investment, with the ambition of bringing several hundred more jobs to Kirkby town centre.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said “This is great news for Knowsley. The Council has ambitious plans for our town centres and it’s great to see that two of our projects have been shortlisted for this prestigious award. Not only that, our projects have been selected by property and investment professionals, who clearly recognise our ambition and the impact these projects will have for our communities.”

The winners will be announced on 12 October 2023.
