Knowsley Council is supporting Carers Week which takes place from 8 to 14 June 2026.
Carers Week is a yearly campaign that aims to highlight the challenges faced by carers and recognise the outstanding contribution that unpaid carers make to their families, friends and communities up and down the UK.
Anyone who looks after a family member or friend who has a mental or physical illness, a disability, an addiction, or requires additional support as they age, is a carer.
Caring responsibilities can have a huge impact on the carer’s life, both day-to-day and long term, affecting relationships, health, finances, school and work. In some cases, the individuals involved might be unaware they’ve become a carer as the transition from short-term help to long-term care can sometimes be subtle.
Carers Week helps people to people recognise if they’ve become an unpaid carer, signpost what help might be available, and encourage them to reach out for help when they need it.
What’s happening during Carers Week?
Appreciation Afternoon on Tuesday 9 June 2026 from 2pm until 4pm
Come along to Knowsley Carers Hub, 143 Bewley Drive, Kirkby, L32 9PE where you can enjoy a cuppa and cake, meet the Carers Team in a friendly, informal setting, take some time for yourself with a soothing hand massage, connect with other carers or simply sit back and unwind and receive a free appreciation pack as a thank you for all that you do.

Support for Carers in Knowsley
Knowsley Carers Hub offers a range of services to support unpaid carers who live in Knowsley, or care for a Knowsley resident.
The Hub works in partnership with various agencies to provide information on issues such as Direct Payments, Housing, Advocacy, Health and other forms of support.
