The contractors delivering the Sovereign Industrial Park in Huyton recently provided construction-related training to four unemployed Knowsley residents.
Barnfield Construction worked with Huyton DWP and Fusion 21 to provide two days of targeted training to support employability in construction.
Across the two days, participants completed core site readiness training including Health and Safety Awareness in Construction, Manual Handling, Protect Your Hearing, Fire Warden at Work, Working at Height and Asbestos Awareness. In addition, each attendee was offered access to at least one British Safety Council certified online course to add to their CV.
All four participants achieved three recognised certificates, giving them valuable evidence of skills and training to strengthen CVs, support job applications, and progress towards work or further learning.
Feedback showed that the training increased both understanding of the construction sector and personal confidence in pursuing future opportunities:
