Report where fireworks are being misused

by Jonathan Kearney

Knowsley residents are encouraged to share information about where fireworks are being misused in the borough.

It is against the law for anyone to set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except at the following times:

  • Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight
  • New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am

The sale of fireworks is limited to people aged 18 and over.

If you know of people letting off fireworks outside these times in Knowsley, or where people are misusing fireworks and causing a potential danger to others, contact Merseyside Police on 101 or email the Council’s Crime and Communities team on safer.knowsley@knowsley.gov.uk

You can also contact the above if you have information about where fireworks are being stored.

Unlit bonfires

Unauthorised bonfires also present a risk to others and use up valuable resources of community safety partners including Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service. If you know where there are unlit bonfires and materials being stored for the bonfire period you can report it here https://www.merseyfire.gov.uk/safety-advice/community-safety/bonfire-safety/report-an-unlit-bonfire/
