As part of Black History Month activities, Knowsley Council is supporting Wear Red Day and standing against racism.
Cabinet Members wore red when they met this week, showing their solidarity for the campaign and for equality and inclusivity.
Founded by the UK’ leading anti-racism charity Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) Wear Red Day encourages individuals and groups up and down the country to wear red and donate to show their support for the campaign and its message.
This year, Wear Red Day takes place on Friday 18 October.
The council has been raising awareness throughout the week with council staff also invited to wear red to work.
The Greystone Bridge across the M62 will be lit red on 18 October to show Knowsley’s support for inclusivity and anti-racism.
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said:
“I’m proud to support Wear Red Day, helping to raise awareness of the campaign and show our support for its goal to bring an end to racism.
“We are proud to celebrate the many different cultures we have here in the borough and promote equality and inclusion in Knowsley.”
The council is supporting the day as part of activities to mark Black History Month in Knowsley.
