One in eight men struggle: local support for Men’s Mental Health

Mental Health Awareness Week

by Laura Johnston

During Mental Health Awareness Week (11–18 May), we’re raising awareness that around one in eight men experience mental health challenges like anxiety or low mood — yet many struggle in silence because asking for help can be hard.

In Knowsley, a growing network of men’s groups is helping to change that.

Evolving Mindset runs clubs where men can take part in various sports such as football, boxercise, circuit training, badminton, and table tennis. These sessions also provide opportunities to talk and offload.

Kirkby Men’s Wellbeing Club Tuesdays, 6pm to 8pm at Kirkby Leisure Centre

Prescot Men’s Wellbeing Club Wednesdays, 6pm to 8pm at Prescot Soccer Centre

Huyton Men’s Wellbeing Club  Thursdays, 6pm to 7pm at Huyton Leisure Centre

You can find out more on Evolving Mindset’s website or by emailing Evolvingmindset@outlook.com

Flourish and Succeed runs several groups for men in a safe and respectful environment. They ask for a referral so they can match you with the right group.
