Families and individuals in Knowsley now have a new way to access support and information, with the launch of Knowsley Info Hub.
The new online platform brings together family support, health information and local services all in one place. It is designed to give families the information they need at the time they need it – and unlike conventional websites, it is able to tailor the information it shows you to your specific circumstances.
So – if you’re the parent of a new baby, it can find you antenatal services in your local area. But it could also remind you about the vaccinations your child can have, and when. As your child grows, it can signpost you to local toddler groups, offer advice on potty training or how to encourage your child to try a range of healthy foods.
If you have a child with SEND, or you are a young person with SEND, the SEND Local Offer page within the Knowsley Information Hub will be your one‑stop shop for all local education, health, and social care services for children and young people aged 0–25. This includes information on SEND provision available in early years settings, schools, and colleges in the area, as well as details about the neuro‑developmental pathway and short break services.
Meanwhile, the platform’s Support for Adults Directory highlights the wide range of local resources that help people stay independent, improve their health and wellbeing, and remain connected to their community.
From friendship groups and leisure activities to advice services and practical support, the directory makes it easier for residents and carers to access help close to home. And the content is being updated and added to all the time, with just the first phase of the project live now.
By making local support more visible and accessible, the directory plays an important role in supporting the Council’s early intervention and prevention priorities — helping people access the right support at the right time. This is a key priority that the council has been working on as part of its journey of improvement in children’s services and forms the basis of our wider Health and adult social care offer in Knowsley.
Anthony Douglas CBE is the independent Chair of Knowsley’s Improvement Board and Department for Education (DfE) Advisor. He said: “There are many brilliant sources of support, information and advice for families in Knowsley, but sometimes people don’t know where to look to find them – or even that they exist at all. The Info Hub is going to help people discover information they wouldn’t even have thought to look for – and all specifically tailored to their own unique needs.
“Giving people quick access to high quality advice and making it easy for them to engage with local support networks is a really effective way to prevent personal and family difficulties further down the line. It’s an approach which should reduce the number of families who find themselves at crisis point before reaching out for help.”
Who is it for?
Knowsley Info Hub is for anyone living in Knowsley who wants to be better connected to local services. Over time it will contain even more information and smart features – such as a booking system which allows you to book classes and workshops, all within the Info Hub.
The first phase of this project is now live, and is particularly aimed at people in Knowsley who are:
- Pregnant or trying to become pregnant, or the partner of someone who is
- A parent or carer of children aged 0-5
- A parent or carer of children with special educational needs or disabilities up to age 25
- A care leaver or care experienced young person
- Adults looking for physical and mental health advice, local activities and practical support.
What does it offer?
The Info Hub is an online portal, which includes information on a wide range of topics.
Users can search for information like you would on a normal website, or you can create a personal account. When you create an account, the Info Hub will suggest information that might be useful to you based on your family’s needs.
For example, a new parent might receive weekly information about how their baby is developing and local baby groups they could join. Someone with a child starting school might see information about school applications and after-school clubs.
The Info Hub also has a chat function where people can ask questions and get helpful answers.
How to access it
Knowsley Info Hub can be accessed at www.knowsleyinfo.co.uk.
It works on computers, tablets and phones, and can be saved as a shortcut on your phone, so you access it just like an app – except it doesn’t take up any phone storage to download.
