Morrisons Petrol Station opens in Kirkby Town Centre

A new Morrisons petrol station has opened in Kirkby Town Centre – it is located adjacent to the new 45,000 feet2 Morrisons superstore, which is also expected to open very soon.

The petrol station is accessed from Irlam Drive and is open from 6.00am until 11.00pm, seven days a week.

The petrol station also includes a kiosk selling some essential items, such as milk, bread, and confectionery.

Councillor Tony Brennan, Regeneration and Economic Development Cabinet Member, said: “It really is an exciting time for Kirkby.  Already KFC and Taco Bell have opened their doors, with the petrol station opening and the superstore to follow very shortly.  The internal fit-out of the larger Home Bargains is also under way now, so we are expecting that store also to open in the coming months.

“And this is just the start of Knowsley Council’s ambitious plans for Kirkby.  Our next phase of development will see the delivery of a multi-screen cinema, along with three food and drink outlets.  Work is due to start on this scheme towards the end of this year.

“We asked people who live in, work in, or visit Kirkby what they thought made a good town centre – they told us that they wanted a supermarket, a better choice of shops, more places to eat and drink, and more things to do in their leisure time, such as visiting a cinema.

“We have listened and we are delivering on exactly the things which residents, visitors, and businesses want and need.”
