The new retail development in Kirkby Town Centre is expected to create around 500 new jobs once it is fully open.
Already, local people are benefitting from the opportunities and securing employment.
Taco Bell is the latest unit to open this week (Tuesday 24 August) and out of 56 vacancies, 54 (96%) have been secured by Kirkby residents. In addition, opportunities have been given to many young people who were not in education, employment or training (NEET).

KFC were the first unit to open last month and out of 50 positions, 32 jobs were secured by Knowsley residents (equating to 64% of staff).
Further employment opportunities will also be secured through Morrisons and Home Bargains.
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said “This is great news for our residents. Not only is the retail development delivering more choice in terms of facilities, but it is also creating local employment opportunities for local people. Having met some of the staff at the opening earlier this week, they are incredibly enthusiastic and many were looking forward to taking their first step on the career ladder.”
Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, added “I’m delighted to hear that local people are securing local employment opportunities and I’m sure many more opportunities will be available as our development of Kirkby Town Centre continues.”
