A Prescot man has been charged with arson and domestic assault after a recent incident in Halewood.

Officers were called to an address in Halewood where it was reported a man had started a fire close to the front door, causing damage inside the home.

Patrols attended and located a discarded petrol can. Thankfully no one was hurt during the incident.

It was further reported the man had assaulted the occupant of the property a week earlier by striking her to the head with a wooden plank.

A man was detained nearby by officers in attendance and later charged with arson with intent to endanger life and Section 47 assault.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court.
