MADE to be MUM in Kirkby proving to be a huge success

by Jonathan Kearney

MADE to be MUM opened its doors on St Chad’s Parade in Kirkby town centre in June last year and since then, the business has grown from strength to strength and expanded its offer.

MADE to be MUM is a children’s play café, offering a play area on the ground floor where children are entertained whilst parents / carers can grab a coffee and a light bite in the café area.

The upper floor is also being used to host a range of workshops for parents / carers, including pregnancy yoga, hypnobirthing, baby sensory and meditation.

MADE to be MUM was turned from an idea into a reality by Kirkby residents and mum-of-three, Sam.

Sam said “Since opening 10 months’ ago, the response and support from the local community has been overwhelming.

“Our offer has been incredibly popular and our events are sold out within a few hours of the time table being published.

“It’s great to open my business in my home town. I love Kirkby – the people are amazing, the support I’ve had from Knowsley Council with my business venture has been fantastic and other business in the town centre have supported me – it’s a really great community to do business.”

The programme of events over the last few months have been enhanced and also includes early years phonics with “Robot Reg” on Fridays, “Mummy Mindfulness” on Monday and Wednesday and “Messy Play” will be introduced next month. Other classes also include baby spa and baby yoga.

MADE to be MUM has also introduced a membership scheme as well as loyalty cards.

Sam added “I’ll be introducing buggy walks on Tuesdays shortly, providing opportunities to meet up and socialise as well as getting our steps in! I’m also developing a new programme for both the ground and upper floors, so keep a look-out on my social media accounts for what’s on.”

Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, added “It was great to return to MADE to be MUM again today and see what Sam has done since opening last year.

“She’s done an amazing job with transforming this space into a vibrant family offer, with an extensive range of activities on offer.

“MADE to be MUM is a great asset to the town centre and really has become a community hub. I wish Sam the very best of luck as she continues to develop her flourishing.”

MADE to be MUM is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am until 3.30pm (please check weekend availability on Instagram due to private parties).
