Knowsley Council is asking residents to share their views and experiences of recycling at home by taking part in a short survey.
The survey will help identify residents’ current recycling habits, any barriers to recycling and help shape the council’s new Recycling and Waste Strategy and future food waste and recycling collection services. The new strategy will highlight the importance of improving recycling and waste habits and explain how the council plans to make repairing, reusing and recycling easier by providing clearer signposting and guidelines to residents.
It’s hoped this will increase recycling rates in Knowsley by encouraging residents to make sure all recyclable materials go in the grey recycling bin. Currently a large amount of the waste thrown in the maroon general waste bin could be recycled. One major change coming to all residents is the introduction of a new, weekly food waste collection, in addition to the regular maroon and grey bin collections. The service will become mandatory across England from April next year.

By taking part in this survey, residents can help us to understand the barriers people face when it comes to recycling more and wasting less. Together, we can make a big difference.”
