Work will shortly begin on the latest shopfront improvements in Huyton Village Centre.
Units 55-65 on Derby Road (from the Halifax Building Society up to and including Waterfields) are the latest properties to benefit from a refurbishment of the existing shop frontage and the installation of new windows, doors and signage.
The improvements, which are being project managed by Onxy, are scheduled to be complete by the end of Autumn.
The Shopfront and Gateway Improvement Programme is part of a multi-million-pound investment in the Village Centre which has seen 15 shop fronts undergo a modern makeover including new windows, doors, signage and lighting.
The scheme has brought five long-term vacant properties back into use as well as helping to attract new businesses into the Village Centre and establish a blossoming night-time economy.
The ongoing shopfront improvements are part of the exciting 10-year development plans for Huyton Village Centre.
A planning application has been submitted by GenR8 Kajima Regeneration Ltd, the Council’s development partner, to transform the Council’s current 7 acre site which will include:-
- The delivery of a new mixed-use commercial district with opportunities for a hotel, office space, co-working centre, and residential accommodation.
- The creation of an attractive new Village Green which will connect improved public spaces, an improved station gateway area and high-quality event spaces on Derby Road.
- Also included in the plans will be the creation of a community hub in the heart of the village centre, which will include the library and community spaces, as well as transforming the multi-storey car park into a sustainable travel hub.
These investment opportunities will be supported by excellent transport access by road, bus, and rail, and will be a catalyst for further development in the Village Centre.
The proposed development could bring up to 1,700 new jobs and a £50m annual investment boost to the local economy.
