Knowsley’s Cabinet has approved the borough’s Asset Management Strategy for the next five years.
The Strategy provides a framework for the future management of the Council’s land and property assets.
The 2026-2031 Strategy reflects improvements in how assets must be managed, including the Council’s commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040, and the need to modernise, rationalise, and support community ownership where appropriate.
The Strategy directly contributes to the delivery of the Knowsley Council Plan 2025-2030 by:
- Delivering effective, high‑quality services and support for residents – ensuring land and buildings are managed corporately, efficiently and in ways that meet current and future service needs
- Encouraging growth that benefits everyone – supporting economic growth, investment, and development across the Borough
- Delivering targeted support to encourage fairness and opportunity for all – enhancing community access to assets, including through updated Community Asset Transfer guidance.
Cllr Jayne Lonergan, Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “The Asset Management Strategy for 2026 to 2031 sets out our aims and principles for the next 5 years – how we will manage Council-owned property effectively and, subject to available resources, aim to ensure that our assets are fit for purpose, in a good state of repair and are financially sustainable. This strategy has been developed taking into consideration rising energy costs, the need to reduce carbon emissions and support the Council’s priorities to deliver effective, high-quality services and support; encourage growth that benefits everyone; and deliver targeted support to encourage fairness.”
