Childminding – could it be for you?

by Laura Johnston

If you love spending time with children and helping them develop and grow, childminding could be the ideal career for you.

Knowsley Council is holding an information session for Knowsley residents where you will be able to find out more about what is involved, how to become a registered childminder and details of the start-up grants available.

What do childminders do?

Childminders offer childcare and early education, looking after small groups of children of different ages from different families in your own home. Many childminders do this alongside looking after their own children.

Your daily responsibilities could include:

  • Offering safe play activities, both indoors and outdoors
  • Providing learning activities,
  • Planning, preparing, and serving meals
  • Speaking to parents and carers about their child’s day.

Childminders are self-employed, so you will be your own boss and running your own business from home.
