Cabinet approves Statement of Licensing Policy

Knowsley’s Cabinet has endorsed the Council’s draft Statement of Licensing Policy 2026-2030.

By Law, the Council is required to publish a Statement of Licensing Policy, which determines the way in which licensing decisions are made in Knowsley.

This Policy must be reviewed and updated every five years.

Under the Licensing Act 2003, the Council regulates the sale and supply of alcohol and the provision of regulated entertainment and late-night refreshment. The Council must do so with a view to promoting the four Licensing Objectives, which are:

• Prevention of Crime and Disorder
• Public Safety
• Prevention of Public Nuisance
• Protection of Children from Harm.

The Policy is subject to approval by full Council at a meeting scheduled for January 2026.
