If you’re just starting out on your career, or between jobs at the moment and in need a little bit of help, the Liverpool City Region’s Youth Employment Gateway could offer you the support you need to make your next step.
What is the Youth Employment Gateway (YEG)?
YEG helps people aged 18-24 years to find employment and once in employment to stay there. All you need to be is a resident in the Liverpool City Region which covers the local authority areas of Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral.
As a member of YEG, you’ll be placed with a dedicated advisor who can tailor the support to your specific needs. You’ll also be entitled to a personalised budget which you can use to buy goods or services that you think will help improve your employment prospects. There’s also a YEG website that gives you access to a range of useful online tools and resources that can help improve your chances of finding and gaining employment and help you manage your personalised budget.
Location search makes job hunting even easier
The YEG website now also includes a map-based opportunities finder called ‘LCR explore’, which allows you to search for jobs, apprenticeships and useful services within the Liverpool City Region boundary. You can view LCR Explore at http://yeg.merseyinteractive.com/opportunities
What success has the Youth Employment Gateway had?
Since the launch of the YEG website in October 2015, the Liverpool City Region Youth Employment Gateway website has received over 20,000 hits. If you haven’t yet seen the range of opportunities on offer across the Liverpool City Region or want to know more about YEG, visit the site and take a look today!
Cllr Ian Maher, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s lead for Employment and Skills, said:
“We want to ensure our residents across the Liverpool City Region have the right support to help them into training or employment. This latest development with the Youth Employment Gateway website ensures everything they need to know is available at the touch of a button and given the website is mobile friendly it’s accessible from a phone, tablet or laptop whenever you need it and wherever you are.”
