Four young people have received a written warning about their future behaviour after climbing onto the roof of a building in Prescot Town Centre.
Three young people aged 12 and one aged 13 climbed on to the roof of the former Imaginarium Bistro on Wednesday 28 May.
The area is closely monitored by CCTV cameras 24/7 which helped to identify the offenders.
The parents of the young people involved have received a warning letter from Knowsley Council’s Crime and Communities team, who work closely with Merseyside Police and other community safety partners to help tackle anti-social behaviour.
If any of the young people involved carry out further anti-social behaviour in the borough they would need to enter into an Acceptable Behaviour Agreement with the Crime and Communities team. Persistent offending could lead to a civil injunction or tenancy enforcement.
CCTV
Knowsley’s CCTV network of more than 1,150 cameras is monitored 24/7. The Council Control room has direct access to Merseyside Police’s Command and Control Room, which means the police can be immediately notified of any incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour occurring and police patrols can be deployed accordingly.
Activities for young people
Children and young people can access a range of free activities throughout Knowsley during school holidays and during term time. You can find out more here or speak to Knowsley’s Crime and Communities team via safer.knowsley@knowsley.gov.uk to find out which activities are available near you.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said: “Anti-social and criminal behaviour will not be tolerated in Knowsley, whether it’s in our town centres or elsewhere in the borough. I would urge parents and carers to make sure they know where their children are and what they are doing, particularly during the evening.”
