Who do you think should be celebrated in an exhibition?

by Laura Johnston

An upcoming exhibition at Kirkby Gallery will celebrate local life through art, and we need you to suggest which Knowsley faces and places should be stars of the show.

‘From Kirkby with Love’ will present the work of Liverpool artist Philip Garrett who will use his skills in drawing and sculpture to showcase the local faces and places he has seen. Philip will be using a traditional approach, working directly from life and social observations to create this body of work that that uses portraiture and landscape to tell our community’s stories.

Some of the artwork will be inspired by history and some will take inspiration from ideas from the public. Whether it’s a folk hero, local champion, or cultural icon from Knowsley, they could be remembered and celebrated in the exhibition.

Do you have any ideas for what Knowsley person or place Phil should incorporate into art? Please send your thoughts to Tina Ball on tina.ball@knowsley.gov.uk or call 0151 443 4936

You can visit From Kirkby with Love exhibition at Kirkby Gallery between 27 January and 11 April 2020
