Wellbeing centre stage at Knowsley’s Working Well Marketplace

by Laura Johnston

Businesses from across Knowsley and the Liverpool City Region came together for the second annual Working Well Marketplace – an inspiring event dedicated to shaping healthier workplaces.

Hosted by Knowsley Chamber, the event at Shakespeare North Playhouse attracted a wide range of organisations committed to strengthening their employee wellbeing offer and accessing specialist support.

A brand-new film showcasing the Working Well programme was premiered at the event. The film highlights how the programme helps businesses build resilient workforces in turn boosting productivity and staff retention. It features organisations which have benefitted from the programme, including Jeff Murphy, Managing Director at Sterling Plastering Limited, who received clear guidance and signposting when an employee was struggling with alcohol misuse.

Jeff said:

Knowing where to go for help made a real difference, as it allowed us to support him in a positive and appropriate way—helping him access the support he needed at the right time.”

The event also saw the launch of Knowsley’s Smokefree Workplace Toolkit. Developed by the Knowsley Chamber’s Working Well team in collaboration with Smokefree Knowsley and Knowsley Public Health, the toolkit provides practical guidance, resources and specialist support to help organisations of all sizes prioritise employee health by creating a healthier, smokefree workforce.

Attendees also had chance to explore a marketplace of more than 30 exhibitors, giving employers direct access to practical tools, new ideas, and expert health and wellbeing services.

Cllr Christine Bannon, Knowsley Cabinet Member for Health, said:

“The Working Well Marketplace is part of the range of events the Working Well Programme hosts each year.

“Now in its second year, the Wellbeing Marketplace is a fantastic opportunity for businesses of every size and sector to access the knowledge, tools and partnerships they need to support the health and wellbeing of their workforce.

“Central to this, the Working Well programme provides a comprehensive range of free services to help employers reduce sickness absence, improve staff wellbeing, and meet their Health and Safety responsibilities. Crucially, the programme is open to all businesses in Knowsley – not just Chamber members – ensuring everyone can benefit from the expert support available.”

Funded by Knowsley Public Health and delivered by Knowsley Chamber, the Working Well programme has been supporting local businesses since 2011 to improve the health and wellbeing of their workforces.
