Are you a private landlord or letting agent in Knowsley? If so, do you have accredited status?
From new landlords to established landlords and letting agents; Knowsley Landlord Accreditation Scheme (KLAS) is for anyone involved in letting property in the borough.
Why should I become accredited?
Designed to recognise good quality and well-managed private sector accommodation in Knowsley accreditation for landlords brings various benefits – from having a publically recognised status to receiving advice, guidance, relevant news and invitations to exclusive events direct to your inbox.
Accredited landlords may also access the tenancy bond scheme and advertise their properties for free on Property Pool Plus.
Letting agents can now sign up their landlords and access all the same benefits as individual landlords.
For residents who already rent, or are looking to rent a home from a private landlord the scheme gives assurances about the quality of the property and the status of the landlord.
And, unlike other similar schemes the Knowsley Landlord Accreditation Scheme is free to join!
What must I do in order to become accredited?
In order to run a successful scheme there are some conditions landlords and letting agents must agree to. Firstly, landlords must be compliant with all the legislation governing the private rented sector including having all necessary safety certificates. Secondly, landlords must allow access for an inspection when necessary – 10% of all accredited properties will be inspected each year. Lastly, landlords are asked to accredit all the properties they own in Knowsley that are tenanted.
Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said
The online Landlord Accreditation Portal is a user friendly system and now enables letting agents to register their landlords. I urge any landlord or letting agent operating in Knowsley to register and take advantage of the benefits for all concerned; landlords, agents and tenants.”
