Volair, who manage the borough’s leisure centres, has been shortlisted for the Sports and Leisure Cultural Services Award at this year’s Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Awards.
The awards recognise the contribution of local government frontline services delivered within local communities.
The submission focusses on the affordable access to a range of innovative and high-quality physical activity programmes delivered across the borough which help to address health inequalities and promote the health and wellbeing of residents.
Volair’s support and services are tailored to local need.
Recent activities include 400 people joining the “Measures Up” weight management programme aimed at supporting residents to maintain a healthy weight and promote a healthy lifestyle as well as the Holiday Activity and Food programme delivered through school holidays in variety of locations across the borough, including the Volair sites, where thousands of young people aged 5-11 years have had the opportunity to eat, move, learn, create, and connect.
