Update from the Kirkby Neighbourhood Board

by Emily Maguire

The Kirkby Neighbourhood Board met today (14 November 2025) – a group of private, public and voluntary sector representatives who will lead the delivery of £19.5m of investment in Kirkby. You can read more about the Board here.

The investment is part of the Government’s Pride in Place programme aimed at addressing the priorities of local people over the next 10 years.

The Board received an update on the recent public consultation, which ran from September to October and invited views from people who live, work or visit Kirkby in relation to the proposed Vision and Priorities for investment in the town over the next 10 years.

The results of the consultation have been used to inform the development of a Regeneration and Investment Plan for Kirkby which will be submitted to the Government by 28 November 2025.

The key themes identified through the consultation, which will be reflected in the Regeneration Plan for Kirkby, are:-

  • A vibrant town centre – a welcoming destination with a diverse offer and high-quality facilities.
  • Safe, stronger neighbourhoods – secure places and community spaces that sustain activity and strengthen local life.
  • Empowering people to succeed – creating pathways and opportunities for those in need.

Subject to approval of the plan by the Government, the first round of funding will be released in April 2026 to be invested over the first four year investment period – 2026 to 2030.

Max Steinberg CBE DL, Chair of Kirkby Neighbourhood Board, said “We once again had a very positive and productive meeting, with all Board members thanking everyone who took the time to attend an in-person event, focus group or complete the online survey and share their views and aspirations for Kirkby over the next 10 years.

“What is abundantly clear is that there is a very strong sense of pride and belonging in Kirkby and that is something we really want to build on.

“It’s really important that the Regeneration and Investment Plan for Kirkby is truly reflective of the views of local people and the feedback we have received has helped us to develop the plan.

“I’m really looking forward to the next phase of work which is implementing the plan and addressing the key issues that are important to people who live, work or visit Kirkby.

“It really is an exciting time for Kirkby and the Board, as residents, businesses and stakeholders in the town, are all delighted to be part of the plans.”
