Pre-loved uniforms for several Knowsley schools are now available at no cost to local families thanks to a recycling scheme organised by local councillors.
Items of clothing which are pre-worn but still in good condition have been donated by families who no longer need them, gathered by schools and then collected by local councillors in Swanside and Roby to be given away from a base at Incredible Edible in Court Hey Park.
The uniform recycling scheme will help local families cut the expense of ‘back to school’ and reduce the amount of clothing that might otherwise go to landfill.
Currently, the uniform recycling scheme has uniforms from the following schools:
- St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Junior school
- St. Annes Catholic Primary school
- Malvern Primary school
- Roby Park Primary school
- Blacklow Brow school
It is hoped that even more schools will join the scheme as the summer progresses.
Families are able to pick up items of uniform that they need on Fridays from Incredible Edible, at the same time as they hold their weekly Foodclub.
This week (Friday 1 August), that will be from 10am – 2pm; whilst Incredible Edible will also be open on Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 4pm whilst the Knowsley Feelgood Festival and Flower Show are on.

Join the Incredible Edible Foodclub
The Incredible Edible Foodclub at Court Hey Park, Huyton, is another fantastic way for local families to make their money stretch further.
It is open to people living in Knowsley and Liverpool (proof of address required), and allows you to pick up 10 items of food for just £3.50; 15 items for £5 and 30 items for £10.
And, if you come along to the Foodclub, between 10am – 2pm on a Friday, you’ll also be able to enjoy free refreshments whilst you’re there.
