Tower Hill play park open!

A new play park for families in Tower Hill, Kirkby has officially opened today.

Local children taking part in the Summer Holiday Activity Programme (HAF) programme, facilitated by KABS (Kids Activities and Bootcamps), joined local residents and Cllr Tony Brennan (Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development) for the official opening which includes two play areas and equipment to appeal to a wide range of users of varying ages.

At Tower Hill play park, you’ll find swings, inclusive and sensory equipment, large slides and dynamic play elements.

The park’s design and the equipment installed follows a public consultation which took place in September 2025 and includes specific feedback requesting both a junior play area and a fenced toddler space.

These new facilities will provide fun and challenging equipment to appeal to older children and inclusive and accessible equipment for younger children and those with additional needs.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said “It’s great to see this new play area in Tower Hill, provided by Section 106 developer contributions that is aligned to the needs of local people and enhances the local area.

“The design and equipment means there is something for all ages and I hope that residents and visitors to the park enjoy these new facilities.”

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, added “I’m delighted to see this fabulous new play area open, providing a range of spaces and activities for children of all ages.

“We have listened to our communities and provided two dedicated spaces with supporting equipment that are aligned to their needs and wishes.

“This exciting new play park will be enjoyed by local families now and in years to come.”

The new play area has been delivered thanks to funding from Section 106 developer contributions and a new Pride in Place Playground Fund.
