The Coffee House celebrates its first anniversary in Kirkby

by Jonathan Kearney

The Coffee House opened its doors in Kirkby town centre on Saturday 26 August 2023.

This is their second outlet in Knowsley, having opened in Huyton Village Centre in 2019.

On their first anniversary, owner Chris Shelmerdine, has looked back over the last year . . .

Why did you choose Kirkby as the location for your business?

We chose Kirkby because of its strong sense of community and rich local culture. We wanted to be part of a town that values connection and community spirit. Our Kirkby store features a special gallery wall that showcases the town’s history, allowing locals to feel proud of their heritage while enjoying great coffee and food. It’s our way of honouring the area and the people who make it special. Pop down and take a look next time you’re in Kirkby town centre!

How has your first year in Kirkby been?

Our first year in Kirkby has been fantastic. The community has welcomed us with open arms, and it’s been rewarding to see our store loved and respected by so many. We’ve built a loyal customer base and have enjoyed seeing familiar faces return, which reassures us that we’re doing something right. It’s been a year full of growth and learning, and we’re grateful for the incredible support we’ve received so far. We look forward to continuing to welcome new faces and becoming a beloved spot where people love to gather and drink delicious coffee.

What unique offerings does The Coffee House provide to its customers?

At The Coffee House, we pride ourselves on delivering an authentic local quality coffee shop experience. Our offerings include exceptional coffee, freshly baked cakes, and a menu featuring delicious breakfast items, sandwiches, and paninis. We roast our coffee beans in-house at our central production facility in Warrington to guarantee the highest quality. Our dedicated bakehouse and cookhouse teams start early each morning to prepare everything fresh for our stores daily.

What are your future plans for The Coffee House? Any new products you’d like to share?

We have some exciting plans in the pipeline! We’re always looking to innovate and bring new offerings to our customers. As we move into the autumn and winter seasons, we’ll be introducing new seasonal drinks and food items. We’re also trialling an Iced Matcha drink in our Stockton Heath store, which we hope to roll out to all locations in the coming weeks. As an independent business, we’re eager to continue expanding and sharing our love for coffee with new communities that could benefit from our presence.

The Coffee House in Kirkby is open from 8am until 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am until 4pm on Sunday.
