Taking action and tackling environmental concerns in Knowsley

by Beth Lawton

Knowsley Council took to the streets of Halewood recently for the latest action day! Officers took part in cleaning up hot spot areas, giving advice to local dog owners and carrying out sewer baiting and much more.

Cabinet Member for Communities & Neighbourhoods, Cllr Shelley Powell said: “I’m really proud of the action days we hold here in Knowsley. Often work takes place behind the scenes and residents don’t always get to see just how hard our officers and partners work, but the action day really highlights this to local residents.

“It also shows residents that we listen to their voice, and we act on their concerns. The days have a real community spirit to them, everyone coming together to make Knowsley better.

I’d really encourage residents to come along to the next one and chat to our teams or even take part if they’d like to.”

Next up, officers will be heading out to Page Moss on Tuesday 4 August, and in a collaboration with United Utilities and Liverpool Council, a joined-up approach will be taken to tackle pest control in the area following resident feedback.

And that’s not all, residents are welcome to come along and speak with our teams. Come along to Jubilee Park at 9:30am where you will find:

  • Teams from Crime and Community raising awareness of community safety and speaking with local residents about any concerns they may have.
  • The Recycling and Engagement Team will be talking all things recycling – and if you have any vapes/batteries or small electricals that need disposing, the team can recycle them safely.
  • Environmental Health will be offering a free microchipping service for dogs and even giving away free treats for your fury friends.
