Knowsley Council has announced that Tex-Mex chain Taco Bell has signed up to open a new restaurant in Kirkby.
It is yet another positive boost for the town, where a major redevelopment is now underway.
Taco Bell is the world’s largest Mexican food chain and has 7,500 restaurants around the world. It joins major names including Morrisons, KFC and Home Bargains, who have also committed to be part of the complete transformation of Kirkby town centre.
Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “This is yet more fantastic news for Kirkby. Since purchasing the town centre, work commenced on the new retail development just a few weeks later. Work is progressing on site despite restrictions at the site whilst adhering to Government guidelines.
“I’m delighted that Taco Bell has chosen Kirkby for its latest venture. This family-friendly restaurant is a welcome addition to our town and the wider borough.”
“It is the start of a very bright future for Kirkby and its residents and I am really proud of the work that this council is doing to make that happen. It’s what the people of Kirkby deserve and something we will continue to strive to deliver.”
Taco Bell’s plans for Kirkby include creating a 1,977 sq ft restaurant with drive-thru. It will be a key part of the new retail development that also includes a new Morrisons supermarket, Home Bargains, KFC and new petrol station.
Taco Bell is a Mexican inspired eatery and their menu includes a range of Tacos, burritos, Quesadillas, Nachos and more, plus signature sauces and desserts. The restaurant will also offer a drive-thru, too.
Work on the new restaurant is well underway with the steel frame, cladding, roof and glazing all installed. The restaurant is due to open in the Summer next year, along with the supermarket and other units.
