Tackling anti-social behaviour in Kirkby

A Dispersal Zone (Section 35 of the Crime and Policing Act 2014) will be operational in Kirkby town centre from 6pm on Friday, 25 May 2018 until 6pm on Sunday, 29 May 2018.

The aim is to prevent anti-social behaviour from occurring in the specified zone. If Police or Community Support Officers suspect a person is causing or likely to cause crime, nuisance or anti-social behaviour, they can be asked to leave the area.

If that person refuses to leave the area or returns within the time the dispersal zone is in place, they are in breach of the legislation and an offence will have been committed.

A police officer then has the power to arrest that person.
