Switching on to electric vehicles

by Cathy Sheel

Knowsley Council’s latest delivery of electric vehicles is a driving force behind the authority’s commitment to tackle climate change.

The three new 100% electric powered vans have been liveried with the message ‘Taking Action on Climate Change’ – highlighting the actions taken to achieve the council’s aim of Net Zero carbon emissions by 2040.

The Toyota Proace electric vans, which replace older diesel vehicles in the council’s fleet, will work in the council’s libraries, environment, fleet and security services.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “Introducing more electric vehicles into the council’s fleet is just one of the actions we’re taking to reduce our carbon emissions – and save money. Schemes like this are vital if we are to achieve our ambitious target of reducing emissions from our own buildings and services to net zero by 2040.”
