A health promotion event recently took place in Kirkby Town Centre to support the national Stoptober campaign, supporting residents to stop smoking.
Delivered in partnership with Smokefree Knowsley, City Health Care Partnership (CHCP) and Change Grow Live (CGL), the event was attended by Cllr Christine Bannon, Cabinet Member for Health.
The event formed part of a wider programme of community engagement activity being delivered across the borough by Smokefree Knowsley to raise awareness of the support available to residents and encourage people who smoke to take the first step towards quitting.
Representatives from Change Grow Live (CGL) were also in attendance to promote local drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services, providing information on available support and encouraging residents affected by substance use to engage with local services.
Representatives from the Healthy Futures Knowsley Service, delivered by City Health Care Partnership (CHCP), attended the event to promote wider health improvement initiatives and provide information on support available to help residents improve their health and wellbeing. The service offers advice and support to help residents make positive lifestyle changes, including increasing physical activity, achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, and improving overall wellbeing for families.
Cllr Christine Bannon, Cabinet Member for Health, said:
“This was a great opportunity for residents and visitors to the town to speak directly with local health and wellbeing professionals, access advice and information, and learn more about the range of support available across Knowsley to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
“Through our strong partnership working with Smokefree Knowsley, City Health Care Partners and CGL, we are delivering a co-ordinated approach to prevention, early intervention and the promotion of healthier lifestyles within local communities.”
