Help make Christmas a little more special for local families by supporting Knowsley’s Sharing Santa Appeal.
A partnership between The Explore Partnership, community organisations across the borough and Knowsley Council, the appeal is calling for the donation new, used and made toys, games, books, puzzles and treats for children and young people who might otherwise not receive a gift.
Donations can be dropped off at locations across the borough until Friday 1 December. Donated gifts and treats will then be packaged in gift boxes and distributed by community organisations to families in need in their local area in time for Christmas.
Not only will this initiative help bring some Christmas cheer to children and families, it’s also good for the environment – encouraging residents to ‘Reduce, Re-use and Recycle’.
This year’s initiative follows the success of the first Sharing Santa Appeal last year when generous locals donated more than half a tonne of toys and gifts to the appeal.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “Once again, this Christmas is going to be tough for us all, but it’s going to be especially hard for those families who may struggle to make ends meet all year round.
“That’s why it’s so important we all support this year’s Sharing Santa Appeal. It will make Christmas special for so many children and families by showing them how much we all care. It will also encourage us to recycle more by finding a new home for lots of good quality toys and gifts.”
Gary See, Founder of the Knowsley Sharing Santa Appeal added: “We are excited to bring back the Knowsley Sharing Santa Appeal this year. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and make a real impact on the lives of families in need,”
“We encourage everyone to participate, donate generously, and help us surpass our previous achievements. Together, we can create a brighter and more festive holiday season for all.”
