Job seekers who are receiving support from Knowsley Council’s Knowsley Works Team will receive a £5 voucher for every time they attend a pre-organised appointment to receive support finding employment, training or education.
Residents who attend an appointment with the team will receive a voucher which can be used in a range of high-street shops. There are over 50 high-street shops where the vouchers can be redeemed and include Heron Foods, Marks and Spencer, the Food Warehouse, Iceland, Argos, Boots and Peacocks to name just a few!
The new initiative started on Monday 24 October 2022 and is funded through existing contract budgets.
Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said “We know that the cost of living is the biggest concern for our residents. This was highlighted in the Knowsley Offer consultation we recently carried out which has identified what residents need to help them thrive and not just survive. Rising costs for essentials such as food and heating is placing additional pressures on already stretched resources and we are doing all that we can to help them.
“The £5 voucher scheme is available to any resident who wants support to find a job or training and is a small way to help our residents out during these difficult times.
“It can be used in a range of high-street shops and will help to provide essentials for our residents.
“Our Knowsley Works team have a wealth of experience in helping resident to find employment and training opportunities, so I’d encourage you to speak to the team today.”
Knowsley Works can help residents secure employment or training opportunities. This can include support with a range of vacancies, job searches, developing CVs, preparing for an interview as well as interview techniques.
