Officers from Merseyside Police carried out 25 stop searches, issued four dispersal notices and held community engagement events with residents in Kirkby at the weekend.
It comes after we issued a dispersal zone on Friday 13 March, which was active until Sunday 15 March, following recent incidents of youths causing anti-social behaviour in the town centre.
During this time there was a high visible police presence with officers in the area to carry out stop searches and issue dispersal notices. Officers also attended Northwood Community Centre and Kirkby Civic Centre to speak with local residents about their concerns.
Local Policing Chief Inspector Ray Mavrakakis said: “I hope the action carried out over the weekend and the increased patrols in Kirkby town centre offered reassurance to the community that we take your reports seriously when it comes to anti-social behaviour.
“Although the dispersal zone has now come to an end, we will continue with a range of pro-active measures to ensure the community is protected from anti-social behaviour.
“Please continue to report any concerns and incidents and we will take action. I would also continue to ask parents and guardians to speak with their children and young people and stress to them the dangers of engaging in anti-social behaviour and have an idea of where they are going in the evening, and who they are with.”
“If you witness any anti-social behaviour or have any information about such incidents, please contact or speak to our officers and we will take action.”
Anyone with information on anti-social behaviour in their area is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’.
