Knowsley’s Stop Smoking service (Smoke Free Knowsley) has one of the best success rates across the North West.
More than half the people using Smoke Free Knowsley have quit for four weeks or more. In just six months, 844 residents had signed up to the service, with 452 quitting for four weeks or more.
This success rate equates to 54%, which is above the North West average (46%) as well as the national average (51%).
The Stop Smoking Service offers support with one-to-one counselling or group sessions.
Cllr Sean Donnelly, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said “Research shows that smokers are about four times as likely to successfully stop smoking when using a specialist service. As well as improving your bank balance, some other benefits of giving up smoking include more energy, better breathing, along with improvements to the appearance of your skin and teeth.”
Smoke Free Knowsley is the council’s stop smoking service and is free to those who live, work or are registered with a GP surgery in Knowsley. The service runs over 50 clinics a week across the borough, offering one-to-one support all year round.
