Young woman follows online art tuition

Sign up for summer art school

by Gemma Melling

This summer, you can sign up for a free six week online art course, regardless of your age or experience!

The Kirkby Gallery Summer Art School will focus on Impressionism, and every Wednesday from 22 July – 26 August, you’ll be sent a resource pack with information and instructions for each activity.

You won’t need to print anything out – all you’ll need is basic art materials – pencils, paper, watercolours, acrylic and poster paints and brushes. If you can’t access suitable materials, the Friends of Kirkby Gallery, who are organising the course, can suggest alternatives.

You don’t have to do all the activities if you don’t want to – there are no deadlines to be met. The course is intended purely for your own enjoyment and to allow you to explore the Impressionists at home.

Each week will start with some exercises to get you into the swing of things – so whether you are a beginner, haven’t painted much for a while or are an experienced artist, there’ll be a good opportunity to go back to basics.
