Knowsley road closures you need to know about

Road closures are usually in place to facilitate all different types of work including sewer repair work, sewer reconfiguration, carriageway repairs and grounds maintenance.

Here are the details of current road closures and diversion routes to help you plan your journey:

North Parade, Kirkby –  Monday 1 June 2020 until Monday 1 February 2021

Essential drainage works, are planned on a section of North Parade, Kirkby Monday 1 June 2020 until Monday 1 February 2021. In order that the works can be undertaken quickly and safely the road will be closed from its junction with St Chads Drive for a distance of 40 metres in a southerly direction.

The diversion route for vehicles affected by the North Parade road closure is via an alternative temporary access road.

Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby –  Monday 31 August 2020 ongoing

In order to reduce traffic speeds as to encourage active travel, KMBC proposes a 20mph zone on Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby, from its junction with Webster Drive to its roundabout junction with Valley Road.

It is anticipated that the temporary 20mph zone will be in place from Monday 31 August 2020 until such a time as the scheme is reviewed and a decision is made whether or not to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order on a permanent basis.

There is no diversion route applicable for this Temporary Traffic Regulation Order.

Knowsley Wood Lane, Link Road between East Lancashire Road (A580 and the M57 Junction 4 – Monday 14 September until Friday 11 December 2020

This road will be closed from Monday 14 September until Friday 11 December to allow for bridge repairs and maintenance work to be carried out safely.

A diversion is in place and will be signed for motorists.

Irlam Drive, Kirkby – Monday 28 September until Sunday 20 December 2020

Essential carriageway resurfacing works are planned on sections of Irlam Drive, Kirkby at the junction of County Road to undertake significant highway works to for a new signalised junction for the new shopping development in Kirkby Town Centre. In order that the works can be undertaken quickly and safely the road will be closed..

Alchemy Way, Kirkby – Wednesday 28 October 2020 ongoing

It has been reported that a section of Alchemy Way and the surrounding area is being used for fly tipping by local residents. In order to deter fly tipping in the future, the section of road identified below has been closed to all vehicular traffic:

  • Alchemy Way, Kirkby – from its junction with Platinum Court for 100 metres in a northerly direction.

The proposed traffic restrictions are shown here. There is no diversion  route applicable as Alchemy Way is a no through road.

Prospero Place, Prescot – temporary road closure until Friday 4 December 2020

Prospero Place have been extended until Friday 4 December 2020. In order that the works can be undertaken quickly and safely the road will be closed.

The diversion route associated with this closure is via Church Street, High Street, Warrington Road, Kemble Street, Market Place, Prospero Place and vice versa.

The road closure and bus station closure are in place to facilitate construction work for The Shakespeare North Playhouse. Bus services will be diverted and full details are available on MerseyTravel’s website.

Stoney Lane and Cumber Lane, Whiston – Friday 4 December until Monday 7 December 2020

Essential carriageway and junction improvement works, are planned on sections of Stoney Lane and Cumber Lane. In order that the works can be undertaken quickly and safely the road will be closed.

  • Stoney Lane, Whiston – from its junction with Dragon Lane to a point 130 metres northwest of its junction with Newby Avenue.
  • Cumber Lane, Whiston – from its junction with Stoney Lane for a distance of 65 metres in a southerly direction.

The diversion route for vehicular traffic affected by the road closure on Stoney Lane will be via Stoney Lane, Old Lane, Warrington Road, Dragon Lane and vice versa.

The diversion route for vehicular traffic affected by the road closure on Cumber Lane will be via Cumber Lane, Fox’s Bank Lane, Lickers Lane, Windy Arbor Road, Dragon Lane and vice versa.

Hale View Road, Huyton – Thursday 4 December until Thursday 17 December 2020

Essential gas network repair works, are planned on a section of Hale View Road, Huyton from Thursday 4 December 2020 to Thursday 17 December 2020. In order that the works can be undertaken quickly and safely the road will be closed.

The diversion route associated with this closure is via Hall Lane, North View, West View, Hale View Road and vice versa.

Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby – between the hours of 20:00 and 02:00 from Friday 11 December 2020

Essential carriageway repair works, are planned on a section of Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby between the hours of 20:00 and 02:00 from Friday 11 December 2020. In order that the works can be undertaken quickly and safely the road will be closed.

The diversion route associated with this closure is via Cherryfield Drive, Valley Road, Bewley Drive and vice versa.
