Families in Knowsley are invited to a special safari-themed story and rhyme time event next week, with a very special guests.
Safari Story and Rhyme Time takes place on Tuesday, 31 March at Northwood Family Hub at The Pride, 2 Simonswood Lane, Northwood, Kirkby, L33 5YP. There are two sessions to choose from: 10am–11.30am or 1pm–2.30pm.
Children will get the chance to enjoy stories, songs and activities based around the book Safari Stomp by Caryl Hart, illustrated by Nicola Slater. They’ll be encouraged to get up on their feet and join in the actions throughout!
The sessions will be joined by children’s author and Waterstones Children’s Laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce, GP Mike Merriman from Millbrook Medical Practice, and the team from BookTrust.
As well as enjoying the session, Frank, Mike and BookTrust want to hear from local families. They are keen to find out how stories can be shared better across the Knowsley community, and what would make it easier for families to enjoy books together.
Please note: BookTrust and Knowsley Council will be taking photos and filming during the sessions for use on their websites, social media, and as part of BookTrust’s Reading Rights campaign. Anyone who would prefer not to be included should let the team know in advance.
The event is free, but you need to pre-book your place. You can do this online here, or contact the Early Years Service on 0151 443 5633 or email earlyyearsservice@knowsley.gov.uk.
