Everyone needs to play their part and help to get our COVID infection rates down.
Supermarkets are playing their part and the UK’s four major supermarket chains have announced that they will ban shoppers who refuse to wear face coverings unless they have a valid medical reason.
The four major supermarkets are Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
It comes after the vaccines minister said there were concerns about behaviour in stores. This includes not adhering to one way systems in stores or maintaining social distancing, particularly when queuing at the till.
We know that COVID-19 is easily transmitted from person to person so limiting interactions with others is essential. Other steps you can take are wearing a face covering in shops and on public transport, regularly washing your hands with soap and water and remember to maintain social distancing (that’s keeping a 2m distance between you and others) at all times.
Knowsley’s infection rates are currently one of the highest in the country and it’s really important that everyone follows the rules and stays at home as much as possible. If you do need to leave the house for work, education or essential shopping purposes, remember to always take a face covering with you.
