Knowsley Council’s Recycling Engagement Team will be visiting residents living in flats across Knowsley asking their views on the borough’s recycling service.
The team will be encouraging residents to take part in the short survey which asks households if they currently recycle and if there are any barriers preventing them recycling their waste.
The responses will also help the council shape the new food waste collection service to be introduced borough-wide in Spring next year.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “We know that there are some challenges to recycling for residents living in flats, so we hope the information we receive from this survey will help us deliver a service which will enable even more residents of flats to recycle as much of their waste as possible – and ensure a smooth transition to the introduction of food waste collections and the collection of additional materials next year.”
The introduction of food waste collections is part of the Government’s Simpler Recycling initiative which aims to make recycling easier for homes and businesses across England. It means that everyone, regardless of where they work or live, will be able to recycle the same materials.
