Another primary school in Knowsley has secured a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating – the second this month.
Inspectors have confirmed that Ravenscroft Community Primary School in Kirkby has transformed from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’.
In fact, the latest report awarded the school ‘Good’ in all areas – the quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; leadership and management and early years provision.
A proud and enthusiastic school community
Throughout the two-day inspection, inspectors highlighted that the pupils were a credit to the school and their families, they are confident, friendly and are very proud and enthusiastic about their school.
In addition, teaching was highlighted as a strength with staff having high expectations for all pupils; leaders inspire pupils for the future, pupils are well-prepared for secondary school and they teach pupils with special educational needs and / or disabilities (SEND) well.
Reading is a high priority at Ravenscroft Primary School, with almost every pupil achieving the expected reading standard by the end of year 2. Science, religious education and music were also strong subjects.
Inspectors also noted that Leaders have created a well-designed curriculum and the school is well-led.
Pathways to Success programme has helped accelerate improvements
Ravenscroft Community Primary School is also participating in the Pathways to success programme which is helping to improve literacy, leadership and collaboration between schools. The school has benefitted from an expert Pathway Advisor who acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the school, offering advice based on best practice nationally with the aim of improving literacy and leadership.
